Philip III

(Spanish: Felipe; 14 April 1578 – 31 March 1621) was King of Spain. He was also, as Philip II, King of Portugal, Naples, Sicily and Sardinia and Duke of Milan.
A member of the House of Habsburg, Philip III was born in Madrid to King Philip II of Spain and his fourth wife and niece Anna, the daughter of Holy Roman Emperor Maximilian II and Maria of Spain. Philip III later married his cousin Margaret of Austria, sister of Ferdinand II, Holy Roman Emperor.

[Placidus, PM, 2h47 pm, 146 - Argoli, 166, idem - Leo, NN, 598 - cf. Magnier, Pedro de Valencia and the Catholic Apologists of the Expulsion of the Moriscos, p. 133 - Magnier says that the ASC would be in SAGIT because of the conjunction of JU and SA that occurs in November 1578...]

On April 24, 1619, King Philip III begin a trip to Portugal, for a visit of six months, planned but often postponed visit whose political and symbolic dimension did not escape the contemporary chroniclers. The oath of loyalty lent to Prince Philip, the solemn meeting at Lisbon of the Cortes of Portugal, not assembled since 1583, the triumphal entry of the King, after twenty years of royal absence on Portuguese soil, mark the highlights of this journey. [...] The king's sickness, on the way home and his death, - authorizes the declared opponents of this trip to establish an indisputable link between the political decisions which are at the origin of this journey and the tragedy of illness and death of the King. The death of the sovereign, although occurring more than a year after the return of Portugal, is also a death announced. Rumors, apocalyptic predictions and prophecies of the death of the king, heard and broadcast before the departure find confirmation in the harmful outcome of the trip. [La prophétie comme arme de guerre des pouvoirs, XVe-XVIIe siècles, Augustin Redondo, Presses de la Sorbonne nouvelle, 2000, pp. 279-280, Christine Aguilar-Adan]

But we see that Argoli and Placidus give another birth hour.
  • ASC CAPRIC, ruler SA (I)
  • MC SCORPIO, ruler MA (I)
  • MO CANCER opposite SA
  • SU cadent, JU (VIII) opposite ME
  • VE detrimental
Morinus gives MA for ALMUTEN and the alcocoden is SA.

- HYLEG : MA (SU and MO can't be hyleg - the chart is preventional and sygyzy was 26°42'11' ARIES, so in conjunction with VE - Observe that we have POF conjunction ME )
- ANAERETA : possible JU (?)

II)- primary directions

The hyleg is not easy to find; indeed, SU is in III (cadent place) and MO is close to the DSC, in opposition to SA; SA is well disposed, in I and ruler of the ASC; only MA, who is also the ruler of MC, may seem to take the place of hyleg, although it may seem illogical to consider an anaerete as a benefactor; moreover, two planets are detrimental: JU in VIII, in close opposition with ME. VE seems also very weak.

1)- MA conj VE

This direction is interesting in so far as VE is both ruler of the SU (TAURUS) and JU (LIBRA).

HENRICUS II GALLIARUM REX (1519-1559)

Cf.: http://primarydirections.blogspot.com/2017/04/henri-ii.html.

I)- natal chart

  • ASC GEMINI, ruler ME (XII)
  • MC AQUARIUS, ruler SA (IX)
3 planets are detrimental : ME, VE and MA. We have an opposition between JU and SU, VE. And we have quadrature between JU and MA. Quadrature between SA and SU. VE is combust.

Morinus gives  SU for ALMUTEN.Capricorn Prometheus gives JU for ALCHOCODEN with PTO ; otherwise, with Omar or Bonatti, there is no ALCHOCODEN.

- HYLEG : ASC (POF ?)
- ANAERETA : MA (SA ?)
- ALCOCODEN :  JU

II)- primary directions

1)- exitus : 1559

a)- MA conj ASC

D(ASC-MA) = OA(ASC)-OA(MA) = 32.33°-71.06°= 39.941° (1559)

(observe that a direction of ASC is always direct : MA rises).

b)- Rp MO|ME and ME conj SA - VE // SA

Here we have a relatively rare example of three directions that have a common root. We will first calculate the Rp between MO and ME in relation to the MC. The procedure to follow has been simplified since the previous examples.
- Rp MO | ME (PM):
- compute the mundane mi-point between the two points. It is not the same for Regio or Campanus, nor Placidus.

  • mi-point domitude Campa = 340.91° - Lz = 8.89° ARIES - D (mi-point/MC) = 40.37 (Campa) - with latitude : dom Campa = 343.35 - Lz = 15.55° ARIES - D = 43.01 (no ray)
  • mi-point domitude Regio = 332.66° - Lz = 9.73° ARIES - D (mi-point/MC) = 40.7 (Campa) à 0.3 orb equat.
  • mi-point domitude Placidus = 333.10° - Lz = 10.01° ARIES - D(mi-point/MC) = 40.8 (Campa)
Let's add that we do not observe any Rp with the fictitious methods.

Now, we take the ray : VE // SA : it is a converse direction. The mobile point is VE and the fixed point is the parallel of SA.
- compute Campanus mundane //SA : 293.7° - Lz = 310.141° AQUARIUS.
- compute the direction :

2 DP Regio and Placidus direct, 1 mundane ; none fictitious.

Then, we see the last direction : ME conj SA.

1 DP Regio-Campa at 40.487° (Morinus find 40.678°).

c)- VE # MO

We have said earlier that VE is combust. So it is interesting to compute this ray for 1559.
- comput of mundane #VE : 9.34° domitude Campanus - Lz = 75.34° GEMINI.

We count 2 directions.

2)- Cardinalate - Priesthood - Episcopate

 a)- cardinal 1586 : MA conj ME (D = 26.543°)

We find exactly the same result as Morinus : D = 26.54 Regio-Campa (orb -0.04, key PTO)

b)- conclaves 1590 : MA conj JU

Here, we find 3 directions (the Morinus one is D = 30.596).

c)- cardinal-priest 1599 : SA conj JU

At this time, it is difficult to say if this ray is good or bad... But, we know that SA is the ruler of MC. The direction is : D =  39.027 (Morinus). It is a regio-campa converse.

d)- episcopate of Palestrina 1606 : MA conj VE

It is the last good direction... The death occurs 2 years later. D = 46.467°.

The D Placidus of 46.765 is closed to that of Morinus. If we report the ecliptic position of VE, we find :
- with the AR key factor of 1.084 (i.e. arc = 49.87, year = 1609.88) L(VE) = 59.38° TAURUS.
- with the EQU factor of 1.025 (i.e. arc = 47.17, year = 1607.17) L(VE) = 55.99° TAURUS.

The question of the transformation of the direction arcs into a calendar year is not solved ... Morinus thus foresees in his DP options on the subject matter the occurrences of pseudo-astronomical integer, domitude and longitude.

rapt-parallel :

We have computed the Rp SU|SA for Campanus and Regiomontanus. Morinus gives this Rp for Placidus C SU|SA =  48.471, so 1608 (year of death).

We find a Regio Rp = 48.0° for the PTO key convert.
