Gennaro, Prince of Naples and Sicily

Gennaro, Prince of Naples and Sicily

(Gennaro Carlo Francesco; 12 April 1780 – 1 January 1789) was a Prince of Naples and Sicily. He died of smallpox aged 8.

  I. Natal chart

The luminaries can't be hyleg (SU II, but it seems that Al-Qabisi don't forbid II, provided SU is in a masculine sign. The chart is nocturnal but MO can't be hyleg because it is cadent. Ptolemy in this case invites to look for the hyleg between the ASC and the part of fortune, as long as one or the other is aspected by one of its dignities. This is not the case for ASC (see also Dorotheus,Carmen astrologicum, III.2 as quoted by Deborah Houlding). Now you have to analyse the two remaining possibilities: Part of fortune (POF) and SYGYZY.
The POF is situated at 233.77° SCO as the birth is nocturnal. But, it is cadent... Ptolemy, once more time, don't forbid use of POF in IX, but Al-Qabisi (quoted by D. Houlding in Introduction IV, 4) disagrees while Dorotheus says nothing.
So, if we take POF as hyleg, we have the following list of dignities :

We see that MA aspect POF (opp 176.96°) and that it is both SCO ruler and triplicity ruler.MA fulfills the criteria to be the alchocoden. But we observe that MA is not dignified, as being in cadent (III)and is detrimental as being in TAU.

Junctinus, Speculum astrologiae, 354, Lugduni, 1581

We must take the 'minores' years of MA, so : 15 Y. Now, we take care of the aspects :

These are, first of all, the classical aspects of the old authors; we note that MO sex MA adds the minor years of MA (considering the impeded nature of both MA and MO): + 25 Y. Then, we have the NN : in conjunction with MA, it adds + 3.75 Y (the Alcochoden is within 12º of the North Node, add ¼ of the years it signifies, see Abu'Ali and Masha'allah).

Now, we take other rays in relation with ASC, POF and SYGYZY :

POF doesn't take away at its own degrees, but MA, yes. So POF opp MA = -15 Y and ASC square MA, takes away minor years -15 Y. ALGOL is indicated for memory (Lilly gives an orb much larger than modern astrologers: 5 °). Naturally, one can ask the question of the validity of these innovations concerning the axes and the taking into account of the POF.

Finally, we also take into account the natal aspects of the luminaires at MA and SA. In this case, we have (without latitude): #MO conj SA : that takes away - 8.33 Y.

Ty = 12.42 Y (death 8 Y).

II. Primary directions

We will study the directions of the fortune share that is the hyleg.

Conclusion

This theme is an illustration of the difficulties that often arise when looking for a hyleg ; POF is a hyleg better than the AUC while SU and MO are disqualified by their celestial condition. On the other hand, we notice that the directions, as I mentioned on other occasions, are peculiar in particularly short lives: it seems that aspects of EV are to be favored. Finally, we must pay close attention to the peregrine planets, the value of which is totally modified (here for example, SA and VE).

André Bourvil

André Bourvil

born André Robert Raimbourg ; 27 July 1917, Prétot-Vicquemare, France – 23 September 1970, Paris), often known mononymously as Bourvil, was a French actor and singer best known for his roles in comedy films, most notably in his collaboration with Louis de Funès in the films Le Corniaud (1965) and La Grande Vadrouille (1966). After a battle with Kahler's syndrome, which attacks the bone marrow, he died at the age of 53. He is buried in Montainville, Yvelines.

I. Natal chart

In this chart, SU is X. Unfortunately, he is afflicted with a conjunction with SA which is combust; this is one of the worst conditions for a planet. Moreover, SU is afflicted by square MO.

I.1 ALMUTEN

Planet with most dignities is VE, but we note a peregrine condition.

I.2 HYLEG

The Hyleg is SU (LEO), but as said before, afflicted by combust condition and MO square. We can also consider that SU is 'besieged' (we consider as besieged a planet between MA and SA when the distance |MA-SA| < 35°.

I.3 ALCHOCODEN

As SU is Hyleg and it is in rulership, we shall think that SU is as well the alchocoden. but, it is aspected by SA which is lord of term, for his five dignities. So, the alchocoden is SA.

One can discuss aspects of which tradition does not speak, relative to their use in the search for years of life: the parallel aspects. // is considered to be favorable and # is unfavorable. In the present case, SA // SU, SA # MO and SA // JU. If we consider 1/12 in a year, we end up with:
25 / 12-19 / 12 + 12/12 = 1.5 years.
To this, we add the value of the alchocoden (SA angular, but combust and peregrine, ie: 4.75 years.) To this is added the total of the aspects to SA, that is: SA conj SU = 19 - SA square MO = 25 - JU sex SA = 12.
The total is Yt = 52.25. Bourvil died at 53 years old.

Conclusion

It seems interesting to juxtapose the results of the values found by the alchocoden method to primary arcs, the only possibility of increasing the sensitivity and the specificity of the results.

Hugo Wolf

Hugo Wolf

was an Austrian composer of Slovene origin, particularly noted for his art songs, or Lieder. He brought to this form a concentrated expressive intensity which was unique in late Romantic music, somewhat related to that of the Second Viennese School in concision but diverging greatly in technique.
Though he had several bursts of extraordinary productivity, particularly in 1888 and 1889, depression frequently interrupted his creative periods, and his last composition was written in 1898, before he suffered a mental collapse caused by syphilis.

I. Natal chart

I.1 ALMUTEN

The theme is not well disposed; SU is XII (-5 ° of the cusp of XII) and in square with MA. We note that only VE is not peregrine. Among the beneficial aspects, MO TRI ME and MA TRI SA; the bad aspects are: SU square MA and ME square JU. Observe the aspect of mutual reception in MO - JU control as it intervenes in the choice of the alchocoden.

I.2 Hyleg

SU is not Hyleg considering that it is located at less than 5 ° of XII. Hyleg is MO, according to the 5-point research chart by Deborah Houlding [Notes on Dorotheus III: the haylāj, kadhkhudāh, and terms of life]. As can be seen, Dorotheus and Alcabisius give more precise instructions than Ptolemy. It is from point 3 that Ptolemy is less clear. However, the concept of dominant planet is interesting in that it allows to anticipate the search for alchocoden. There are two more points to mention: the lot of fortune and the preceding sygyzy. It should be known that the lot of fortune does not send aspect, and that sygyzy is calculated according to whether MO is waxing (preceding full moon or waning (preceding new moon). Unfortunately, the authors do not say whether one should consider the sygyzy point as likely to send aspects.
As we see, here, MO is HYLEG with 5 points.

I.3 Alchocoden

The search for alchocoden (kadhkhudāh) is based on the ruler of the hyleg; but it is not necessarily the ruler by sign; it can be - and more - the ruler by term. There is another point, fundamental according to all the authors: kadhkhudāh is a striking point which must exchange with the hyleg a so-called Ptolemaic aspect; it may be a banal aspect (so-called ray) but it can also be an aspect engaging the very structure of the chart. For example, in this case, hyleg and kadhkhudāh are linked by the reception link: MO is SAGI while JU is CAN. There is reciprocal reception. Rulers can also be considered by triplicity or decanate, etc. The goal is to reach a quotation that is the same, of course, for all cases.
So , in our case, ALCHOCODEN is JU. As we see, JU is in poor position, succedent (II) with a square to ME.

Al-Qabisi, IV:5, (74-78), p. 115, describes the kadhkhudah as "indicator of the length of life" and tells us: ... you look at the lord of the place of the haylag or its exaltation or its term or its triplicity or its decan, and whichever of them has most leadership in the degree of the haylag and is aspecting the haylag is first <choice> for the kadhudahship. If it does not aspect the haylag, it is one that is below it in leadership <and so on> until one looks at the one which is the least in leadership. If it does not aspect the haylag, the haylagship is incomplete for that haylag and you seek the haylagship from another. [cf. Deborah Houlding, 2014. 12/11/2014: www.skyscript.co.uk/dorotheus3notes.pdf]

Value of  kadhkhudāh :

Observe that one of the most delicate steps is to attribute a heavenly and earthly value to kadhkhudāh. We must consider whether kadhkhudāh is in the SA-MA trap (besieged : for instance see Joseph KENT), whether he is retrograde, dignified (debility) or strong (afflicted); if it is aspected (it is inevitably with the hyleg as I have just said either explicitly (ray) or implicitly (reception) Other points are still to be considered: if kadhkhudāh is in IX or XII, it is possible that it is located within 5 ° of the MC or the ASC, in which case it is considered as X or I. Even if it is located in the last degrees of VII: it is consider in VIII (these are well-known points) There may be another circumstance: SU is LEO or MO is CAN: then, in principle, SU or MO is both hyleg or kadhkhudāh. There are many other circumstances to consider which are of the order of 'monnayage' (in french), i.e. inversion, conversion (like in music).
In our case, observe the signs '-' which indicate that the state of kadhkhudāh is not so bad as that. It is 'succedent' which means that one is obliged to use the 'middle years' of the table of values, drawn up by the ancient astrologers.

Junctinus, Speculum astrologiae, 354, Lugduni, 1581

We give JU the value Y = 45, corresponding to the middle years. It is now necessary to look for the aspects which JU exchanges with the other salient points and which can modify - sometimes substantially - this initial value Y. There is a square between ME and JU (94.26 °) and a sextil between SYG (precedent full moon) and JU (61.29 °). The way to deal with the table of years values these aspects depends on the nature of the appearance; usually one proceeds by 1/12 of year and by lesser years. In the present case, we have :
- ME square JU = -20/12 = -1.67 and SYG (full MO) sex JU = 25/12 = 2.08.

So, Yt = 45 - 1.67 + 2.08 = 45.42.

It is very important to consider that we are not looking here for an utopian precision, but a probable order of presumption in the search for the number of years of life: this order of presumption constitutes the springboard for the targeting by the calculation of the primary directions.

Hugo Wolf is dead in 1903 at 43 years. He was diagnosed with syphilis, probably from 1880, and experienced periods of severe depression, particularly around 1886. He was interned shortly before his death.

II. Primary directions

The first two directions involve factors directly involved in the determination and value of the alcocoden. Nevertheless, it is not necessary to consider that there is a relation between the direction and the alchocoden. As usual, we must first consider the 'essential' directions, then the 'accidental' directions.
