Napoléon

On ne connaît pas l'heure de naissance précise de Napoléon ; A. Barbault a proposé 11h du matin [Traité pratique d'astrologie, Le Seuil, 1961] en se basant sur le fait que Letizia Bonaparte avait commencé d'éprouver les douleurs du travail à l'église :

Le 15 août 1769, Mme Bonaparte, encore souffrante des fatigues qu’elle avait éprouvées dans la guerre de la liberté, dont elle avait partagé les dangers avec les insulaires, touchait au terme de sa grossesse. Elle se crut assez de force pour assister à la solennité de la fête de l’Assomption; mais à peine fut-elle arrivée à l’église, qu’elle éprouva des douleurs, fut obligée de retourner chez elle à la hâte, atteignit avec peine son appartement et déposa, sur un vieux tapis à grands dessins étendu sur un lit, dans la maison de Charles Bonaparte, un enfant mâle qu’on appela Napoléon.

 Il n'y a pas d'indication d'heure de naissance... Dans la Nouvelle biographie universelle... , vol. 37 [Didot, 1863], on lit 11h du matin, p. 203. Toutefois, on trouve une autre heure de naissance qui aurait été donnée par... Napoléon lui-même à un astronome : 9h45 du matin [Worsdale, cité par Thomas Oxley, in The celestial planispheres, or astronomical charts, p. 195, Wright, Liverpool, 1830].

L'analyse réalisée par John Worsdale est très détaillée au plan technique avec, notamment, les directions directes, in mundo, aux parallèles.

OF DEATH, AND THE QUALITY THEREOF

[...] and now we shall come to apply them to this nativity under consideration. That the sun is the giver of life no man can deny, and that luminary alone must be directed for death. The moon is not very violently oppressed by Mars in the radical figure, except only by the sequiquadrate; but as I have said before, the ascendant is afflicted by the mundane square of Saturn, and the same point of heaven is also oppressed by the square of the moon in rnundo. The sun is also conjoined with a violent fixed star, and the moon is afflicted by the opposition of Saturn, so that the whole position, duly considered, forebodes a violent death, But I humbly conceive we have not sufficient testimony of affliction from Mars, by the position alone, to confirm our judgment respecting the quality of death from this configuration of Mars with the moon; for the before-mentioned rules of Ptolemy inform us, that "Mars squaring or opposing the sun, or moon, contrary to condition, in signs of human form, he will cause death by slaughter, either civil, hostile, or by himself Now, in this man’s nativity, Mars, though posited in a sign of human form, yet he is not afflicting either of the luminaries in the way and manner above described, for he is neither in square or opposition to either of them; therefore it is chiefly from the position of Saturn, and his configurations with the luminaries, that we must define the quality of the native's death.

The moon is posited in the celestial constitution very unfortunate, being angular and in a violent cardinal sign, in opposition to Saturn, who is likewise angular, and evilly disposed, and posited also in a cardinal sign. Now, in a case of this nature, the rules of Ptolemy arc applicable; for he informs us, in plain terms, that,

« Saturn squaring or opposing the sun, contrary to condition, in fixed signs, causes death by suffocation, by tumults of the people, by hanging or strangling ; in like manner he doth the same, if he he occidental, and the moon follow.»

Therefore, in this geniture, we have not the sun in opposition or square of Saturn from fixed signs, but we find the moon afflicted by that malefic in a far greater degree than if the opposition had happened alone in fixed signs; for it is evident that this affliction must be much greater, falling from violent cardinal signs, and augmented by angular positions, as I have said before; so that the fury of the affliction is more than doubled in this case ; from which we may conclude, that a violent death is every way visible throughout the whole of the figure, which suffocation, &c. will be the means to produce in the end. But as the positions and configurations of the celestial bodies in this geniture are so remarkably violent,. Let us take a more minute survey of the position of Saturn, and the moon, in the radix; for by their particular positions, &c. we must in this case judge of the Quality of Death, as Ptolemy further informs us, for he says,

« Saturn posited in moist signs, configurated to the moon, he will cause death by water, being suffocated and drowned. »

Now it is obvious that the moon and Saturn are exactly so posited in this figure, as to be productive of the same quality of death as that which I have just mentioned : though wo have some testimonies that “ Death will happen by slaughter — either civil, hostile, or by himself" which I judge from the directions of Mars, combined with those of the moon and Saturn, for his dissolution; from which mixture of rays death will happen in a moment. But we are not to suppose, by any means, that, in every nativity we meet with, where we find an opposition of the moon and Saturn, that the native will perish by water or shipwreck, by tumults of the people, the sword, or strangling, See. as in this case, —  for such occurrences can only lake place when that violently afflicted luminary proves to he the Poitothanatos, or in violent and malevolent configuration with that malefic star who is so. Having said sufficient respecting the quality of this Tyrant's death, which you see is violent beyond all question, I shall now conclude this part of the subject, and' give you my opinion what directions I allow for his dissolution. That the sun, is the true apheta, of giver of life, every one will readily admit : and to his directional motion we must look for death. It is true, the sun to the sextile of Jupiter in mundo, by direct direction, will keep off the fury and violence of the first directions for a time, but the directions of the hyleg (which I allow to be mortal) are these, viz. The sun to the parallels of  the moon and Saturn in mundo, by direct and converse motion, and also to the rapt parallel of Mars, and that followed by the moon to the opposition of Mars, as you may see, in the table preceding, for the most violent of the above directions will operate at the time therein mentioned, which I judge will be mortal ; notwithstanding the effects of the mundane sextile of Jupiter which precedes, it cannot break the train at that period, according to my judgment. But perhaps you will say, Why is the moon to the opposition of Mars mentioned amongst those preceding for his death ? — Answer, In all cases, when a train of violent directions are in operation to the giver of life, as in this nativity, then consequently the moon to the opposition of Mars (though that luminary is not the giver of life) will certainly add great violence to the effects of the former directions. And the direction of the sun to the sextile of Saturn in the zodiac, will likewise be productive of more evil than many will imagine. The sentiments of the great Ptolemy, on this subject, are as follow:

« But the places of the malefics, Saturn and Mars, kill according to the prorogation made to the following signs, when they either meet bodily or cast their ray's from any where, whether it be square or opposition, and sometimes in sextiles, proceeding from signs obedient or beholding, because of their equipolence, and also a square configuration from the following signs to the aphetic place; and also a sextile evilly affected when it is in signs of long ascension: yea, and besides the trine in signs of short ascension kill, as will the solar place if the moon be hyleg: and the rancounters made in such a prorogation can kill or save, because such occourses are carried to the aphetic place direct. »

From these rules we may readily judge, that the direction of .the sun to the sextile of Saturn, is endowed with evil and violent qualities but cannot kill, because the rays of Jupiter follow; for the direction of Saturn’s sextile before-mentioned, falls in signs of long ascension, which is equal to the power of a square: and likewise the sun to the trine of the moon, Is a direction of evil and malevolent import; for though this trine aspect has not power of itself to destroy life, yet being configurated with others of violent power and efficacy, it consequently augments the force of their malignity, and more particularly in this nativity, where the moon is of the nature of the malefics. [...]

Le thème de Napoleon - pour 9h45 du matin - est caractérisé, pour ce qui nous intéresse in mundo, par :

• une opposition Saturne - Lune ;
• un parallèle Saturne - Vénus et par conséquent un contre-parallèle Vénus-Lune ;
• un contre-parallèle Mars-Jupiter ;
• Castor (α Gem / α Geminorum) en conjonction avec le MC (20° 02') ; domitude Campanus de Castor 269° 43'.
• ZUBEN ELGENUBI  (South Scale, α Libra) en conjonction avec Jupiter.

 Lorsque Worsdale évoque une étoile près du Soleil, il veut parler de Regulus mais que je ne retiens pas car elle est située à 26°37' (dans le zodiaque "sidéréalisé" du logiciel Morinus) soit à plus de 4°. Autrement plus intéressante est cette relation à une direction mondiale majeure : Mars opposition Lune. A propos de Castor :

It gives distinction, a keen intellect, success in law and many travels, fondness for horses, sudden fame and honor but often followed by loss of fortune and disgrace, sickness, trouble and great affliction. Its natives are said to be mischievous and prone to violence [Fixed Stars and Constellations in Astrology, Vivian E. Robson, 1923]

Est-il besoin d'insister sur le caractère quasi prométhéen que l'on a [Victor Hugo] attribué à Napoléon ? Et sur Zuben Elgenubi, ceci :

Even the conjunction with Jupiter is credited as being adverse. Vehlow has recorded "confiscation of possessions during times of war". A credit given to the Southern and Northern Scales is that they both bestow an immortal name. However, this comes about more by tragic circumstances than by well noted success [Fixed Stars and Their Interpretation, Elsbeth Ebertin, 1928, p.65]

Il est tout-à-fait remarquable de voir que les deux facteurs clef du destin social {MC, Jupiter} sont « subordonnés » chez Napoléon à ces deux étoiles {Castor, Zuben Elgenubi} dont les « effets » sont, on le voit, contradictoires...

Voici le thème de directions correspondant à l'année 1804, époque de la proclamation :

 

l'envol de l'aigle (1804)

 On remarque les directions miroir du Soleil et de Jupiter. On remarque également une direction C Sa conj S qui coïncide avec un épisode de maladie (pneumonie) en 1802.

Il semble ressortir de ces données contradictoires que :

• une direction de Jupiter peut avoir, chez Napoléon, un sens ambigu : ce sera le cas lors de la campagne de Russie en 1812, marquée par le Rapt parallel : Rp J | V. Il s'agit en principe d'une direction favorable : la bataille de Russie se termine par la catastrophe de la Bérézina après de multiples indécisions au cours desquelles la Grande Armée perdra progressivement plusieurs milliers d'hommes.
• une direction de Saturne n'a pas le sens habituel qu'on y trouve : chez Napoléon, Saturne est partie intégrée au destin social ; c'est la raison pour laquelle c'est avec prudence qu'il faut voir dans la direction C Sa conj S la coorespondance avec un événement somatique. Dans le projet de plébiscite visant à nommer Bonaparte consul à vie, c'est en 1802 que l'on trouve pour la première fois le nom « Napoléon »...
• l'axe Saturne - Lune est fondamental : c'est pour ainsi dire une constante organique chez Bonaparte. Cet axe jouera un rôle dans les correspondances retrouvées lors des événements engageant le destin social ; il lui jouera aussi un très mauvaix tour lors de sa dernière maladie

Le début clinique de la dernière maladie peut se reporter au 1er octobre 1817. Dès le matin, il se plaint a O'Meara d’un mal sourd dans l'hypochondre droit, immédiatement au dessous dcs côtes; avec irradiation vers l’épaule droite. Il éprouve en outre une légère excitation a la toux. Instinctivement il presse son côté pour adoucir la douleur. C’est la premiere fois qu’il souffre d’un mal de cette nature. [...] Nous savons aujourd’hui, d’après les resultats de l’autopsie, que les sensations éprouvées dans la partie droité de l’abdomen ne provenaient pas du foie mais bien de l'estomac. Seuls déjà, les symptômes cliniques que nous avons énumérés: des douleurs dans l’hypochondre droite sous la région des côtes avec une sensation de pression dans le scrobicule, accompagnée de nausées, auraient orienté chaque médecin modeme vers la diagnostic: „ulcère duodénal ou gastrique”. Mais ce diagnostic ne pouvait se présenter à l’esprit des médecins de l’époque, pour la simple raison que les symptômes cliniques n’en avaient pas encore été décrits. La première description anatomique ne sera donnée par Cruveilhier qu’en 1831, celle des symptômes cliniques date de beaucoup plus tard. Nous savons d'après l'autopsie que Napoléon est décédé d'une forme assez particulière de cancer de l'estomac : une linite, forme infiltrative et qui - fait fondamental - peut avoir un caractère héréditaire : on sait que le père de Bonaparte, Charles, est mort également d'une tumeur de l'estomac à l'âge de 38 ans. Quant aux signes décrits dans l'extrait ci-dessus, ce sont ceux d'une douleur d'origine péritonale (notamment l'irradiation à l'épaule ou signe de Kehr) et il est donc vraisemblable que la tumeur était déjà en 1817 assez évoluée. [l'hypothèse diagostique est évoquée dans un article : Place de la gastrectomie totale prophylactique dans le cancer gastrique héréditaire, G. Godlewski, J. Chiesa, P. Pujol, e-mémoires de l'Académie Nationale de Chirurgie, 2007, 6 (1) : 07-12 dans la partie discusssion]. C'est sans doute dès 1812 qu'il faut situer le début des premiers signes de la pathologie tumorale.

 

la Bérézina

En 1812, nous trouvons l'arc D S // Sa. Finalement, vers 1814 la situation va progressivement s'aggraver et nous observons le train suivant de directions, qui s'échelonnent entre 1814 et 1821 :

• D Sa // L (1818)
• D V // M (1822)

Les arcs {M, V} de 1815 et 1822 - qui s'entre-croisent - sont ce que j'appelle des directions en miroir (ou écho) qui signalent souvent des événements marquants.

 

l'aigle foudroyé

 Ce n'est donc pas moins de quatre arcs directionnels qui s'affichent dans cette figure, dont la direction M opp L que j'ai évoquée ci-dessus. On trouve également le rapt parallel D Rp M | S vers 1818 (il est déjà passé à échéance sur la fig. qui est dressée pour 1820).
