Ion. Baptista Cardanus
[Placidus, Primum mobile 301, 8h30 - Maginus, De Legitimo astroligia, 113 - Cardano , Geniturarum exempla ... in Cl Ptolemaei de astrorum judiciis... p. 653, 1553 - cf. the life of Girolamo Cardano, Morley, II, 40 - Origani, 348, 8h30 - Alan Leo, NN n° 514]
Praesepe :- [...] to the Pleiades, Hyades, Caster Apollo, Pollux, Præsepe, dangerous and violent diseases, contentions, quarrellings, he commits murders, rapes, or other insolencies; he will be in danger of death, by the shot of a gun, [...] the cast of a stone, or a stab, or may be beheaded, or banished, or wrecked : I have known these Directions to cause violent fevers, [...] a pestilential disease of which the Native aftervards died, but to Præsepe, danger of being murdered

Two of Cardano's children — Giovanni and Aldo Battista — came to ignoble ends. Giovanni Battista, Cardano's eldest and favorite son, was tried and beheaded in 1560 for poisoning his wife, after he discovered that their three children were not his. [ Giovanii was a gifted doctor following his father's lead but was arrested, tried, convicted and executed for murdering his wife with a focaccia laced with arsenic when he found himself cuckolded.] Aldo Battista was a gambler, who stole money from his father and was disinherited by him in 1569.
