Catherine de' Medici (erratum)

was an Italian noblewoman who was queen of France from 1547 until 1559, as the wife of King Henry II. As the mother of kings Francis II, Charles IX and Henry III, she had extensive, if at times varying, influence in the political life of France. For a time, she ruled France as regent. DESPROGES Pierre

DESPROGES Pierre

Pierre Desproges (May 9, 1939 – April 18, 1988) was a French humorist. He was born in Pantin, Seine-Saint-Denis. According to himself, he made no significant achievements before the age of 30. From 1967 to 1970, he worked as: life insurance salesman, opinion pool investigator, "lonely hearts" columnist, horse racing forecaster, and sales manager for a styrofoam beam company.

In 1987, doctors discovered he had inoperable lung cancer in an advanced stage, and his relatives, in agreement with the doctors, decided to hide the condition from him, so he could spend his final days quietly. He died in 1988, ironically from a disease he had bitterly laughed at time and time again, often saying "I won't have cancer: I'm against it". His epitaph reads: "Pierre Desproges est mort d'un cancer, étonnant, non ?" ("Pierre Desproges died of cancer, astonishing, isn't it?")

We find in his "Almanac" (1988) a rare saying that applies to his case: "Christmas scanner, Easter at the cemetery" ... Humour often desperate that of the author of "Manuel de savoir-vivre". the use of boors and cowards "(1981)," Let's live happily while waiting for death "(1983), the" Dictionary superfluous for use by the elite and the well-to-do "(1984), or "Chronicles of Ordinary Hatred" (1987). He can be found at Père Lachaise, in front of Chopin (says his friend Jean-Louis Fournier).

I. Natal chart

this chart is problematic: lonely ASC whose ruler, ME, is in conjunction with falling SA; MC in GEMINI; MA is strong (exaltation in CAPRI) but in close conjunction with MO (in exile). SO is succedent ; JU is strong, closely to DSC.
The ALMUTEN is MA.

• HYLEG : JU (i don't think that HYLEG is SU because it is in VIII and MO is in succedente (IV) very unfortunate).
• ALCHOCODEN : MA (with Campanus), but with other system, Placidus, the ALCHOCODEN is SU)

All these directions are mundane converse in the very sense of what Max DUVAL think in its 'Les Moyens de pronostic en astrologie', Ed. Traditionelles, 1986, pp. 31-33. It is perhaps the most important book of the end of the XXe century in the history of astrology.

Finally, we will try to calculate the life with the ALCHOCODEN.

1)- According to the CAMPANUS sytem, the ALCHOCODEN, has said before, is MA, as it contracts a ptolemaïc ray (*) with the HYLEG (JU in my sense). So :

According to the table of Junctinus (from Speculum astrologiae, francisci Junctini comment., p. 354, Lugduni, 1581), we have

MA = 40 years (according to the 'greater years' as MA is exaltation, but MA is 'succeedent')
We must substract :
- conjunction from MO = 66.5/12 (months) as MO is debilitated ('middle years')
- quadra from ME = -48/12 (months) 'middle years' as ME is ruler of ASC
- quadra from SA = -30/12 (months) 'greater years' as SA is debilitated (fall)
and we add :
- sextil from JU = 79/12 (months) 'greater years' as JU is HYLEG

Finally, we obtain D = 40 + 5.54 - 4 - 2.5 + 6.58 = 45.6 years.

I remain very reluctant about the possibility of such a calculation, in the sense of computation. As I remain reluctant about the very mechanical way in which the ancient Arabs, compared to the Greeks, considered astrology. However, I must recognize the great efforts made in recent years as evidenced by, for example, the one made by the designer of the software Astrallis to whom we owe this very precise text: (see :Alcoccoden-nn-pdf  J S Raggio).

2)- According to the PLACIDUS system (and more others), if HYLEG is SU, VE is ALCHOCODEN. So, VE = 45 years.
We must add :
- conjunction from ME = 48/12

So : D = 45 + 4 = 49 years.

Thus we see that the attribution of the ALCHOCODEN varies according to the domification; but the technique of the primary directions also ... However the interest of the determination of the ALCHOCODEN - as well as that of the points marking for the primary directions - is the possibility of an evaluation at sight, almost immediate, when one has some experience. And this is unique to these two methods of prognosis.

Alfonso d'Este

Alfonso d'Este 

(1527 – 1587) fu un nobile ferrarese.

Born at Ferrara, he was the illegitimate son of Alfonso I d'Este, Duke of Ferrara by his lover Laura Dianti. In 1523 his father gave him Montecchio Emilia and turned it into a feudal inheritance for cadet members of his family – in 1569 it was promoted to a marquessate by Maximilian II, Holy Roman Emperor.
Alfonso was legitimated in 1532 by cardinal Innocenzo Cybo and in 1533 by his father Alfonso I.His first marriage followed on 3 January 1549, to Giulia della Rovere, daughter of Francesco Maria I della Rovere, Duke of Urbino and Eleonora Gonzaga. In 1584 he married Violante Signa, though that marriage remained childless.
He died at Ferrara in 1587.

This chart has been the subject of a thorough analysis by an anonymous astrologer; Grazia Bordoni has given the substance in an article where several excerpts highlight the way to look for valuation factors: HYLEG and ALCHOCODEN. The anonymous astrologer retains MO for HYLEG and VE for ALCOCODEN. The examination of the chart shows a lonely ASC, JU in X and MO in CANCER (master in XI). It is also noted that VE is combust and almost in exile. JU is in exile (GEMINI) and SA is in a fall (ARIES). Finally, ME is particularly weak in ARIES.

Morinus gives JU for ALMUTEN. We can't purpose SU as HYLEG ; so HYLEG is MO (ruler of CANCER in XI). ME is bad disposed ; if not, it will be the ALCHOCODEN as there is TRI between MO and ME. So, it seems that the ALCHOCODEN may be VE, despite the fact that VE is USB ...

However, ME shares a Ptolemaic aspect (TRI) with MO (HYLEG), which JU does not do. It therefore seems interesting to consider the directions of ME that coincide with the time of death.

If we consider that ALCHOCODEN is ME, we notice two things:

- his celestial state does not allow him to give him the maximum of years granted by Bonatti. (see Abu Al-Kayyat, The book of the judgement of nativities cura J. H. Holden (AFA, 1988)).
- ME exchange with MO TRI and with MA QUADR.

- we substract the lesser years of MA for QUADR = 15 and the months of middle years of MA = 3.37

The following Nativity is that of Joseph Kent; this Child lived, with his Parents in the City of Lincoln, and on the twelfth of July, 1824, in consequence of his not returning home from school at the usual time in the Evening, his Relatives were alarmed for his safety, and applied to me, on the morning of the following day, Requesting my Judgment, whether he was living or dead; they informed me that he was born at Liverpool, on the 6th of June, 1817, at half past eleven at night, and further observed I might depend that the time of his Birth, was exact, being taken by his Father, (who is now living,) with the greatest care and attention; As soon as 1 had observed that the Effects of the mortal Directions to the true Hyleg were then in operation, and that all the secondary significators of Life were likewise afflicted both by position, and Direction, without any relief from, benefic irradiation, the giver of life being angular, in Pisces, a sign of the watery Trigon, with Saturn, & applying to the Body of that Malefic by a converse Motion, and also to the Zodiacal Parallel, and conjunction of Mars, by a direct Direction; I then delivered my Judgment, that the Child was drowned, and told those who applied to me on this melancholy occasion, that the River, which had been superficially examined, ought to be more diligently explored, which was accordingly done, and the Body was found near the Swivel Bridge, though all signs of Life had disappeared; these facts are well known to the Inhabitants of Lincoln. I have inserted this Nativity with the following directions, & judgment, which will doubtless be considered as an interesting Example, by all those; who are seriously inclined to investigate, and prove the true principles of this Heavenly Science. This chart appears p. 84 of Celestial philosophy. It is followed, as usual at Worsdale, with a list of directions that seems exhaustive. It is in this post, in particular, that an allusion is made to the declination parallels which seemed so important to Placidus.

I. Natal chart

You see here the "modern" theme of this geniture. There are two 'HYLEGIAL' places in house I (Mo) and in house IV (Su); Unfortunately, MA and SA frame the MO directly, a situation to always examine carefully. House I extends widely with regard to latitude and its control is shared between Sa and Ju. The So is placed at the IC, difficult position in IV. The coincidence makes that in this theme, several planets are at domicile: MA (Aries), VE (Taurus), ME (Geminis) and JU (Sagittarius); it's more than average. Note also that the MC ruler is Ju, itself practically at the meridian, in IX.
The examination of the Campanus domitudes shows a conjunction between MO (15 ° in I) and Ma (18 ° in I) that does not necessarily allow to guess the zodiacal theme (the planetary latitudes are quite consistent: especially for Lu to -4 ° 53 '38 ") The Placidus are less close and there is a mundane Campanus # JU - SU.

The ALMUDEBIT is JU, the ALMUTEN (Ibn Ezra, Omar) is VE and the ruler of ASC appears to be VE. Observe that the ALCHOCODEN is JU (ptolemaïc zodiacal ray * with ASC).

Observe a conjunction between ALGOL and VE. SU appears detrimental.
