Anna Eleonore, Duchess of Brunswick-Lüneburg

Anna Eleonore, Duchess of Brunswick-Lüneburg

the daughter of Louis V, Landgrave of Hesse-Darmstadt and Magdalena von Brandenburg. She married George, Duke of Brunswick-Lüneburg on 14 December 1617 in Darmstadt. One of their sons was Ernest Augustus, Elector of Brunswick-Lüneburg (1629–1698), father of George I of Great Britain. She died at Herzberg Castle 6 May 1659 at the age of 57.

In this chart, SU is HYLEG and JU is ALMUTEN.

MO is XII and can't be HYLEG. As SU is both HYLEG and LEO, it will be ALCHOCODEN, but it is in VII (not in I).

The primary directions :

- mundane # SA conj SU
- mundane □ MO conj MA (□ : 139.6° !).

We have also JU [Almuten] conj MA.

Christian Ludwig Brunswick-Lüneburg

Christian Ludwig Brunswick-Lüneburg

German nobleman. From 1641 until 1648 he ruled the Principality of Calenberg, a dynastic subdivision of the Welf duchy of Brunswick-Lüneburg in the Holy Roman Empire, and, from 1648 until his death, the Principality of Lüneburg. He died childless on 15 March 1665, aged 43, at Celle.

There are several ways of conceiving the dominant planet; we can try to characterize the ALMUTEN (Omar or Ibn-Ezra method); a hybrid method (Lilly) can also be used; finally, one can - as part of the search for the life span - seek to determine the dominant planet as HYLEG. In that case, it is necessary to determine both the diurnal and nocturnal dominance.

For this natal chart, we have the following table for HYLEG search :

One can automatically determine the hyleg, according to a quotation which is in the column of left; alchocoden is only given for 'memory' because I have no confidence in this method. We see that SU and MO can't be HYLEG. Eventually, POF and FM (full moon) at 157.13° VIR can both be hyleg.
ALMUTEN is VE as we see in this diagram :

One must pay close attention to the interpretation of ALMUTEN: one must consider it somehow as the most 'radiant star' on the chart, whatever the circumstance (the event) in which one believes it to be 'involved'.

At the death of  Christian Ludwig, we have the following primary directions :

- # SA conj MO

- mirroring # MO conj SA

Fanny Shaw (Zadkiel 129)

Fanny Shaw (Zadkiel 129)

From :

The following authentic case of twins I obtained from a friend some months back. In the boy's Nati-vity, the Sun is Hyleg, strong in the Ascendant, and unafflicted, having the parallel of Venus and the Sextile of Herechel: he is still hying. In the little girl’s Nativity, the ascendant is Hyleg, afflicted by the Conjunction of Saturn and the Square of Herschel; a more remarkable proof of the truth of the effect of planetary influence on our constitutions and lives cannot bo adduced. Let the reader remember, that the rules here laid down for judging the length of life in any horoscope are the same that the immortal Ptolemy wrote, 1700 years ago, and not the new-fangled ideas of a man of the 19th century.

I. Natal chart

It seems plausible that little Fanny suffered a sudden death of the infant.

We have two pending aspects: SA-ASC conjunction and VE-MO opposition. VE and MO are essential life factors in this theme. According to Lilly, VE is the ALMUTEN. MO is strong. SU is exile and JU is in fall.

Catherine de' Medici (2)

Catherine de' Medici (erratum)

was an Italian noblewoman who was queen of France from 1547 until 1559, as the wife of King Henry II. As the mother of kings Francis II, Charles IX and Henry III, she had extensive, if at times varying, influence in the political life of France. For a time, she ruled France as regent. (see http://primarydirections.blogspot.com/2017/05/catherine-de-medicis.html).

The natal chart must be modified as follows :

As we see, ASC in Aries (ruler MA) with ptolemaïc ray to JU and MO ; MA is in CANCER, so we have the following consequences :

- HYLEG : SU (SU in I)
- ALCHOCODEN : MO
- ANAERETA : SA

Alfonso d'Este

Alfonso d'Este

(1527 – 1587) fu un nobile ferrarese.

Born at Ferrara, he was the illegitimate son of Alfonso I d'Este, Duke of Ferrara by his lover Laura Dianti. In 1523 his father gave him Montecchio Emilia and turned it into a feudal inheritance for cadet members of his family – in 1569 it was promoted to a marquessate by Maximilian II, Holy Roman Emperor.
Alfonso was legitimated in 1532 by cardinal Innocenzo Cybo and in 1533 by his father Alfonso I.His first marriage followed on 3 January 1549, to Giulia della Rovere, daughter of Francesco Maria I della Rovere, Duke of Urbino and Eleonora Gonzaga. In 1584 he married Violante Signa, though that marriage remained childless.
He died at Ferrara in 1587.

II. Natal chart

This chart has been the subject of a thorough analysis by an anonymous astrologer; Grazia Bordoni has given the substance in an article where several excerpts highlight the way to look for valuation factors: HYLEG and ALCHOCODEN. The anonymous astrologer retains MO for HYLEG and VE for ALCOCODEN. The examination of the chart shows a lonely ASC, JU in X and MO in CANCER (master in XI). It is also noted that VE is combust and almost in exile. JU is in exile (GEMINI) and SA is in a fall (ARIES). Finally, ME is particularly weak in ARIES.

  • ASC LEO, ruler SU (VIII)
  • MC TAURUS, ruler VE (VIII)
  • conj VE, SU (VE USB)
Morinus gives JU for ALMUTEN. We can't purpose SU as HYLEG ; so HYLEG is MO (ruler of CANCER in XI). ME is bad disposed ; if not, it will be the ALCHOCODEN as there is TRI between MO and ME. So, it seems that the ALCHOCODEN may be VE, despite the fact that VE is USB ...

Observe that #MA has pseudo 0 latitude because the L(z) has been computed from the domitude. So it is a mundane # converted in zodiaco ray.

a)- L(z) MA = 242.691° SAGIT (and lat = 1.032°)
b)- Campanus domitude = 106.752°, so #MA mundane (Campanus) = 254.14°
c)- L(z) #MA = 32.85° TAURUS

D. ME conj SA and mirroring direction

We said above that ME could have been ALCHOCODEN, if it had not been his heavenly place, in exile. But JU is also in exile. However, ME shares a Ptolemaic aspect (TRI) with MO (HYLEG), which JU does not do. It therefore seems interesting to consider the directions of ME that coincide with the time of death.

conclusion : in search of the ALCHOCODEN.

If we consider that ALCHOCODEN is ME, we notice two things:

- his celestial state does not allow him to give him the maximum of years granted by Bonatti. (see Abu Al-Kayyat, The book of the judgement of nativities cura J. H. Holden (AFA, 1988)).
- ME exchange with MO TRI and with MA QUADR.

Junctinus gives this table to compute the years of life :

Junctinus, Speculum astrologiae, francisci Junctini comment., p. 354, Lugduni, 1581

and the requirements for the search for HYLEG and ALCHOCODEN are indicated on pages 352-354. In modern way, we have also a very good paper of Bernadette Brady :
www.bernadettebrady.com/Pdfs/Hyleg.pdf

Guido Bonatti's Liber Astronomiae, trad. Robert Zoller
Tools and Techniques of the Medieval Astrologer Book I, II, III, Robert Zoller, 2010

For ME, we make this computation :

- we take the middle years of ME = 48 (years)
- we add the lesser years of MO for TRI = 25 and the months of middle years of MO = 5.54
- we substract the lesser years of MA for QUADR = 15 and the months of middle years of MA = 3.37

D = 48 + 5.54 - 15 - 3.37 = 60.17 years. (1587.17).
