conclusion

Observe that, contrary to what one might have feared in view of the chart, the life is much higher than the average. That the alchocoden is JU is perhaps no stranger to that. The combust conjunction of JU does not seem to have modified anything in this direction.

Hugo Wolf

Hugo Wolf

was an Austrian composer of Slovene origin, particularly noted for his art songs, or Lieder. He brought to this form a concentrated expressive intensity which was unique in late Romantic music, somewhat related to that of the Second Viennese School in concision but diverging greatly in technique.
Though he had several bursts of extraordinary productivity, particularly in 1888 and 1889, depression frequently interrupted his creative periods, and his last composition was written in 1898, before he suffered a mental collapse caused by syphilis.

I. Natal chart

I.1 ALMUTEN

The theme is not well disposed; SU is XII (-5 ° of the cusp of XII) and in square with MA. We note that only VE is not peregrine. Among the beneficial aspects, MO TRI ME and MA TRI SA; the bad aspects are: SU square MA and ME square JU. Observe the aspect of mutual reception in MO - JU control as it intervenes in the choice of the alchocoden.

I.2 Hyleg

SU is not Hyleg considering that it is located at less than 5 ° of XII. Hyleg is MO, according to the 5-point research chart by Deborah Houlding [Notes on Dorotheus III: the haylāj, kadhkhudāh, and terms of life]. As can be seen, Dorotheus and Alcabisius give more precise instructions than Ptolemy. It is from point 3 that Ptolemy is less clear. However, the concept of dominant planet is interesting in that it allows to anticipate the search for alchocoden. There are two more points to mention: the lot of fortune and the preceding sygyzy. It should be known that the lot of fortune does not send aspect, and that sygyzy is calculated according to whether MO is waxing (preceding full moon or waning (preceding new moon). Unfortunately, the authors do not say whether one should consider the sygyzy point as likely to send aspects.
As we see, here, MO is HYLEG with 5 points.

I.3 Alchocoden

The search for alchocoden (kadhkhudāh) is based on the ruler of the hyleg; but it is not necessarily the ruler by sign; it can be - and more - the ruler by term. There is another point, fundamental according to all the authors: kadhkhudāh is a striking point which must exchange with the hyleg a so-called Ptolemaic aspect; it may be a banal aspect (so-called ray) but it can also be an aspect engaging the very structure of the chart. For example, in this case, hyleg and kadhkhudāh are linked by the reception link: MO is SAGI while JU is CAN. There is reciprocal reception. Rulers can also be considered by triplicity or decanate, etc. The goal is to reach a quotation that is the same, of course, for all cases.
So , in our case, ALCHOCODEN is JU. As we see, JU is in poor position, succedent (II) with a square to ME.

Al-Qabisi, IV:5, (74-78), p. 115, describes the kadhkhudah as "indicator of the length of life" and tells us: ... you look at the lord of the place of the haylag or its exaltation or its term or its triplicity or its decan, and whichever of them has most leadership in the degree of the haylag and is aspecting the haylag is first <choice> for the kadhudahship. If it does not aspect the haylag, it is one that is below it in leadership <and so on> until one looks at the one which is the least in leadership. If it does not aspect the haylag, the haylagship is incomplete for that haylag and you seek the haylagship from another. [cf. Deborah Houlding, 2014. 12/11/2014: www.skyscript.co.uk/dorotheus3notes.pdf]

Value of  kadhkhudāh :

Observe that one of the most delicate steps is to attribute a heavenly and earthly value to kadhkhudāh. We must consider whether kadhkhudāh is in the SA-MA trap (besieged : for instance see Joseph KENT), whether he is retrograde, dignified (debility) or strong (afflicted); if it is aspected (it is inevitably with the hyleg as I have just said either explicitly (ray) or implicitly (reception) Other points are still to be considered: if kadhkhudāh is in IX or XII, it is possible that it is located within 5 ° of the MC or the ASC, in which case it is considered as X or I. Even if it is located in the last degrees of VII: it is consider in VIII (these are well-known points) There may be another circumstance: SU is LEO or MO is CAN: then, in principle, SU or MO is both hyleg or kadhkhudāh. There are many other circumstances to consider which are of the order of 'monnayage' (in french), i.e. inversion, conversion (like in music).
In our case, observe the signs '-' which indicate that the state of kadhkhudāh is not so bad as that. It is 'succedent' which means that one is obliged to use the 'middle years' of the table of values, drawn up by the ancient astrologers.

Junctinus, Speculum astrologiae, 354, Lugduni, 1581

We give JU the value Y = 45, corresponding to the middle years. It is now necessary to look for the aspects which JU exchanges with the other salient points and which can modify - sometimes substantially - this initial value Y. There is a square between ME and JU (94.26 °) and a sextil between SYG (precedent full moon) and JU (61.29 °). The way to deal with the table of years values these aspects depends on the nature of the appearance; usually one proceeds by 1/12 of year and by lesser years. In the present case, we have :
- ME square JU = -20/12 = -1.67 and SYG (full MO) sex JU = 25/12 = 2.08.

So, Yt = 45 - 1.67 + 2.08 = 45.42.

It is very important to consider that we are not looking here for an utopian precision, but a probable order of presumption in the search for the number of years of life: this order of presumption constitutes the springboard for the targeting by the calculation of the primary directions.

Hugo Wolf is dead in 1903 at 43 years. He was diagnosed with syphilis, probably from 1880, and experienced periods of severe depression, particularly around 1886. He was interned shortly before his death.

II. Primary directions

The first two directions involve factors directly involved in the determination and value of the alcocoden. Nevertheless, it is not necessary to consider that there is a relation between the direction and the alchocoden. As usual, we must first consider the 'essential' directions, then the 'accidental' directions.

Paul I Russia

Paul I Russia

(1 October [O.S. 20 September] 1754 – 23 March [O.S. 11 March] 1801) reigned as Emperor of Russia between 1796 and 1801. Officially, he was the only son of Peter III (reigned January to July 1762) (whom he resembled physically and by character) and of Catherine the Great (reigned 1762–96), though Catherine hinted that he was fathered by her lover Sergei Saltykov, who also had Romanov blood, being a descendant of the first Romanov Tsar's sister, Tatiana Feodorovna Romanova.

A conspiracy was organized, some months before it was executed, by Counts Peter Ludwig von der Pahlen, Nikita Petrovich Panin, and the half-Spanish, half-Neapolitan adventurer Admiral Ribas. The death of Ribas delayed the execution. On the night of 23 March [O.S. 11 March] 1801, Paul was murdered in his bedroom in the newly built St. Michael's Castle by a band of dismissed officers headed by General Bennigsen, a Hanoverian in the Russian service, and General Yashvil, a Georgian. They charged into his bedroom, flushed with drink after dining together, and found Paul hiding behind some drapes in the corner.[42] The conspirators pulled him out, forced him to the table, and tried to compel him to sign his abdication. Paul offered some resistance, and Nikolay Zubov struck him with a sword, after which the assassins strangled and trampled him to death. [Wikipedia]

I. Natal chart

Great affliction in this chart : opposition of luminaries, in MC axis (MO conj IC) ; most planets are debilitated : VE exile (SCO), SU exile (LIB), MA exile (LIB), JU exile (VIR). Only SA is strong but with a number of square rays (MO, SU, ME). Ruler of MC (VE) is cadent and ruler of ASC (JU) is succeedent.

According to Lilly, ALMUTEN is SA. Hyleg must be SU but debilitated a lot...

II. Primary directions

Attention must be paid to the SU-MO opposition on the MC-IC axis; the 'favored' direction is the opposition of SA to SU (and the conjunction of MO to SA).

Prince Friedrich of Hesse and by Rhine

Born on October 7, 1870, Prince Friedrich Wilhelm August Viktor Leopold Ludwig of Hesse (known as ‘Frittie’) was the fifth child, and youngest son of Princess Alice of the United Kingdom and Grand Duke Ludwig IV of Hesse and by Rhine. One of his given names was Leopold, in honour of his uncle, Prince Leopold, Duke of Albany. Following a cut to his ear in February 1873, it was discovered that Frittie suffered from haemophilia when the wound took days to stop bleeding. It was the same disease suffered by his uncle and godfather, Prince Leopold

(see http://primarydirections.blogspot.com/2018/03/leopold-duke-of-albany-zadkiel-70.html]

In May 1873, Frittie and his brother Ernst Ludwig were playing in their mother’s bedroom at the Neues Palais. Ernst went into another room to look through the window (which was at an angle to the window in Alice’s bedroom). While Alice was out of the room to get Ernst, Frittie climbed up to the window in the bedroom to try and see Ernst. From all accounts, the chair he had climbed on tipped over and Frittie fell from the window to the ground below.
Due to his haemophilia, Prince Friedrich died from his injuries on May 29, 1873.

I. Natal chart

Observe that several planets are in zodiacal lattice; an opposition between MO and VE is in formation. ; another opposition between JU and SA recalls the management of JU opp SA of Leopold, Duke of Albany. MO is ruler of ASC, and in X (PIS), but JU is cadent (XII), a bad situation for a 'benefic'. SU is in fall (LIB), JU is in fall (GEM). The only strong planet is ME.

According to Ibn-Erza, ALMUTEN is VE and to Omar, it is SA. According to Lilly, ALMUTEN is MA.

II. Primary direction

It looks proper to compute rays in near orb: MO opp VE and JU opp SA.

Willoughby Robert (Worsdale 213)

WILLOUGHBY Robert (Worsdale 213)

According to John Worsdale, this young man was born in Hull (Est Yorkshire) 30th of September 1797, at 8 AM, and was drowned in returning from a voyage, on the fith of January 1814, aged sixteen years, three months and six days.

I. Natal chart

Attention is attracted by the presence of 4 cadent planets. SU is in loose opposition with JU. ME and VE are in house I and VE is partly ruler of the ASC (it must also be counted with MA). VE is debilitated, in fall (SCO); SU is fall. SA is in narrow square with JU, looser with SU. The ruler of MC is SU and MO is opposite MC and square with ME. (the aspects are counted on the zodiac).

According to Lilly, the ALMUTEN is SA ; according to Ibn-Ezra and Omar (viz Morinus), it is JU.

So, we have to focuse our attention on VE, JU and SU. Observe that we have mundane // VE-JU.

II. Primary directions

A. □JU conj SA

 1. compute mundane □JU in zodiaco

- mundane □JU domitude Campanus = 258.94°

 B. JU opp ASC

Conclusion

Thus, we observe two major directions coinciding with the event: JU square SA and JU opp ASC. The nature of these arcs is in accordance with the planetary dignities according to Ibn-Ezra or Omar.
